A delicately imposing and elegant masterpiece by Hawksmoor. Design seems to loom broodingly in graceful bulk. Church seems to remain fairly active, being open for community purposes, but the draw here is the perfection of its design. The only complaint is the incessant traffic often blocking the church from different vantages.

Brooding, somewhat squat, but beautiful in its way. There has been a church here for 1000 years. Burial place of James Newton, who wrote a little tune called 'Amazing Grace'.
